Clay recently had a teaching conference in Spokane, WA and I joined him for a long weekend. What is there to do in Spokane, you might ask? Well, not much. So we visited neighboring Idaho and experienced the northern beauties of this state - lots of lakes and high mountains. We hiked to this lake (above) near the top of a mountain and decided to take this alternate route (that Clay is climbing) to the top of the mountain.

We hiked up the mountain, but took the ski lift down - what fun!

We also visited some 2000 year old cedars at the end of nowhere (really - we felt as though we drove through the middle of nowhere to the end of it to find these giant trees). It poured rain but that didn't deter us from hiking in to gawk at these magnificent trees.

How fun!!!! Thanks for the update. I loved the picture of the path into the fog. What a fun trip.
Hopefully you return to your jobs and to the new school year much refreshed.

Crazy that we just missed each other, on the other side of the country! Scott and I had a great time exploring Washington's rugged beauties too...although it's looks like you extended your exploration into neighboring states! Hope to see you soon!
